The targeted invitations from the British Columbia Provincial Government were reduced after the announcement of the updated immigration plan.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) is a government initiative that helps skilled immigrants gain Canadian permanent residency by aligning their skills with the province's labour market needs. It provides various streams catering to different skill levels and experiences, making it a valuable pathway for those seeking to settle in British Columbia.
On November 6, 2024, the provincial government of British Columbia issued 51 ITAs to Childcare, Construction, Healthcare, and tech workers in Canada.

Early childhood educators and assistants care for and educate young children from infancy to 12 years old.
As a childcare worker, you plan activities, teach, and provide a safe environment for children's growth and development. After immigrating to British Columbia, you would be responsible for childcare centres, kindergartens, and special education programs for children.
In October, 178 childcare workers received ITAs from British Columbia, but as the updated immigration plan announced, immigration targets through PNP nominations have been reduced. The targets have been dropped for all four occupations mentioned above compared to previous draws.
Canada definitely has reduced targets for 2025, but as Canada needs to build more houses for newcomers, construction workers are still an in-demand occupation.
When applying for BC PNP as a construction worker, you must have a valid trade certificate approved by SkilledTradesBC.
Healthcare is one of the "Federal Economic Priorities," so direct PNP streams can send fewer invitations to healthcare occupations, but the express entry system will still focus on the growth of healthcare workers in Canada.
British Columbia has been actively inviting healthcare workers to the province. In recent months, they've sent out invitations to various healthcare professionals. Most of the 28 invitations were sent on October 16 and October 2, 2024.
The latest BC PNP draw has sent 31 invitations to tech workers showing interest to become a permanent citizen in British Columbia, Canada. BC PNP tech requirements are high that's why British Columbia issued more ITAs to tech workers.
The number of draws for tech workers is definitely less than for other occupations, but the number of invitations is higher for tech than for the other three occupations.
The graph above shows that immigration targets through the direct PNP stream have been reduced. Meanwhile, IRCC is focusing more on temporary workers and students as new permanent residents of Canada.
