What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is a web-based application management system that we use to manage skilled worker immigration applications.

Express Entry offers skilled workers in Canada and abroad a path to permanent residence.

Express Entry handles applications for three different immigration programs:

  • The Federal Skilled Worker Program.
  • The Federal Skilled Trades Program.
  • Canadian Experience Class.

How to apply for Express Entry Canada?

To apply for Express Entry, you must complete two steps. The first step is to submit your application, which will necessitate the submission of the following documents:

  • The outcome of the language test
  • Report on the evaluation of educational credentials
  • A passport or other form of travel authorization is required.

Once you submit your profile and receive an invitation to apply for Canadian permanent residency, you will need to submit a more comprehensive application that includes reference letters, additional identity documents, police clearance certificates, and the results of a medical examination.

Who is eligible for Express Entry?

Candidates for Express Entry should have a university or college degree, qualified work experience, and moderate English or French proficiency.

To submit a profile through the Express Entry system, candidates must meet the eligibility requirements for one of three federal programs:

FSW (Federal Skilled Worker) Canadian Experience Class for FST (Federal Skilled Trades) (CEC)

How are Express Entry points determined?

When people talk about “Express Entry points” in Canada, they usually mean the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score. Canada uses the CRS score to rank candidates in the Express Entry pool based on several factors, including:

  • Age
  • Educational level;
  • Fluency in French or English is required.
  • Work experience in Canada and abroad;
  • Spouse factors; and Connections to Canada
