Global Talent Stream: Canada

Global Talent Stream allows skilled workers for their Canada work permits and Canada visa applications to be processed within two weeks. The program was launched on June 12, 2017.

GTS aims to help employers so that skilled workers can get their work permit or visa approval within 2 weeks instead of six months.

Under the Global Talent Stream, there are two distinct categories.

· Category A: High-growth companies with over 40 designated referral partners
· Category B: Companies looking to hire for specific roles designated by the Global Talent Occupations List.

Some of In Demand occupations for Category B include:

· Computer and information systems managers
· Web designers and developers
· Computer network technicians
· Workers in digital media and design

By GTS Canada, Employers in Category A get more flexibility to provide Jobs for New Permanent Residents and Canadian Citizens.


Eligibility for Global Talent Stream


(1) Eligibility for the Global Talent Stream: Category A

You may be eligible for Category A if you have been referred to the Global Talent Stream by one of the Stream's designated partners and if you have been hired with unique and specialized talent.

(i) Stream's Designated Partners

For Category A of the Global Talent Stream, employers must be referred by 1 of Steam’s designated referral partners.

(ii) Unique and Specialized Talent

A unique and specialized position is indicated by:
* At least $38.46 per hour, or equivalent to the prevailing wage for the occupation if it is higher. Note that employers must offer the equivalent of both the hourly wage rate and annual base salary at minimum.
* Advanced knowledge of the specific industry.
* Advanced degree in an area of specialization of interest to the employer.
OR
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of specialized experience.


(2) Eligibility for the Global Talent Stream: Category B

You may be eligible for Category A if you have been referred to the Global Talent Stream by one of the Stream's designated partners and if you have been hired with unique and specialized talent.You may be eligible for Category B if you are seeking to hire highly-skilled foreign workers to fill positions Global Talent Occupations List.
The Employer must also uphold the conditions and rules in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act regarding hiring a temporary foreign worker .

Processing fee for Global Talent Stream


For each post your request under the Global Talent Stream, you must pay $1,000 to cover the cost of processing your application. Hiring temporary foreign workers may involve several fees and expenditures.

Requirements for Global Talent Stream

Under Category A,
foreign workers must possess a unique and specialized talent, defined as:
* Advanced knowledge of the industry.
* Highly paid position with a salary of usually $80,000 or more.
* Advanced degree in an area of specialization of interest to the employer OR Minimum of five years of experience in the field of specialized experience.

Jobs Are Covered By The Global Talent Stream (check with NOC list).
